Comments:
The ending of this story is unclear as to whether Lois spent over 20 years in the Phantom Zone after leaving Krypton, or if her time machine functioned while in the Zone allowing her to skip forward to her own time. The second scenario seems more likely since Lois makes no mention of having been exiled for that long. However, had she remained in the zone for that time she theoretically could have been an invisible phantom roaming the Earth.

Synopsis:
Lois Lane uses a time machine to visit Krypton before it exploded. She brings with her the plans to a device which can prevent Krypton's destruction. On Krypton, Lois locates Jor-El and helps him construct the device that will save Krypton. At the same time, she fights Lara for Jor-El's attention. When the device is completed, it is stolen by Brainiac because it was constructed in Kandor.

Having failed to prevent Krypton's doom, Lois plans to return to her own time. First she stops to visit baby Kal-El. At the same time, Jor-El is testing his Phantom Zone projector. Lois is caught in the beam and sent to the Phantom Zone. Back in her own time Superman releases Lois from the zone.
